Solar Eclipse takes place at the time when the Moon articles in between the Sun and the Earth in such a way that it may obstruct the light of the Sun in reaching the earth .It can happen only the time when the centres of the moon , Sun and Earth are nearly in straight line. The longitudes of the Sun and Moon are nearby the same at that time.As has been already explained in Lunar eclipse that the Earth and Sun always remain on the ecliptic , while the Moon's rohit at an an gal of 5° nearly will the ecliptic. So Moon is not always on the ecliptic. It is on ecliptic when it coincides with Rahu and Ketu which are the nodes of the moon.
Therefore, there are two necessary conditions for solar eclipse and the same are :-
1. Moon should be at Rahu or Ketu or nearby.
2. Amavasya should be ending at that time.
